Comments on the Process for the Establishment of Fee Norms by the Medical and Dental Professional Board of the HPCSA

Details on the HSF comment to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) on the Process for the Establishment of Fee Norms.

The Helen Suzman Foundation (HSF) is grateful for the opportunity to provide inputs to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) on the recommended process for the establishment of fee norms required to ensure the proper administration of section 53(3)(a) of the Health Professions Act 56 of 1974 (the Act).

We are convinced that this is an issue of significant importance to the public good and therefore wish to contribute to ensuring that the envisaged process is implemented. We therefore hope that our views will be fully considered when taking this process forward.

This response should be seen as a continuation of the comments provided in our initial submission on the first proposals of the HPCSA dated February 2013.
