Kalim Rajab (Chairperson)
Kalim Rajab is a director of the New National Assurance Company, South Africa's largest empowered short-term insurer. Kalim previously worked for De Beers Group as a personal assistant to the chairman, senior analyst in the strategy and corporate finance, and a team leader of MBA group undertaking strategic consulting project. He was also a management consultant at Accenture. He was educated at the Universities of Cape Town and Oxford, the latter as an Oppenheimer Scholar.
Cora Hoexter
Cora Hoexter is an academic who has published extensively in her two main research areas, administrative law and the judiciary. She is currently a part-time Professor in the School of Law at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where she teaches and supervises in the postgraduate programme. She was the inaugural President of the Administrative Justice Association of South Africa and serves inter alia on the editorial board of Cambridge Studies in Constitutional Law and the advisory board of the Centre for Rights and Justice at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Nick Jonsson
Nick Jonsson is a Durban based entrepreneur and is the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Jonsson Workwear Group, southern Africa’s leading work apparel brand.
Daniel Jowell
Daniel Jowell was educated at New College, Oxford (PPE, 1st class), Harvard University (Frank Knox Scholar) and the College of Europe (LLM). He was called to the English Bar in 1995 and took silk in 2011. He is one of the pre-eminent Kings Counsel practising in the fields of commercial law and competition law, and has twice been awarded ‘competition silk of the year’ by Chambers & Partners. He is Helen Suzman’s grandson.
Max Du Plessis
Max du Plessis has been an advocate since 2000 and is senior counsel in South Africa, and a barrister in London and tenant at Doughty Street Chambers. He was previously associate fellow in international law at Chatham House, the Royal Institute for International Affairs, London. In the academic space, Max is an adjunct professor at the Nelson Mandela University, South Africa, an honorary research fellow at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (Durban) and was an adjunct professor at the University of Cape Town and for many years an associate professor at University of KwaZulu-Natal, Howard College.
He advises governments, international organizations, and NGOs, and has appeared or advised in cases inter alia before the International Court of Justice, the International Criminal Court, the African Commission on Human and Peoples Rights, the SADC Tribunal, and the East African Court of Justice. He regularly acts in international law and public law cases before the South African courts, including the Constitutional Court.
In 2025, Max was appointed as UN expert to the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on Iran.

Palesa, an incisive public commentator, is also director at Clarity Global Strategic Communications, with extensive experience designing communication strategies for South African and global audiences.
Phila Zulu
Phila Zulu is a banking and finance lawyer. He was educated at Rhodes University, obtaining a BCom and LLB degree. After a decade as a lawyer in practice, including a stint at the London office of White & Case LLP, Phila is currently the Legal Director and Company Secretary for a leading international health and fitness company, where he also serves on the Executive Committee, Risk Committee, and the Social and Ethics Committee.
