The separation of powers and of political structures is central to the Foundation’s understanding of a democratic state. The current bills under discussion in Parliament will impact on the way national government interacts with provincial and local government. The implication of this needs to be explored and vigorously debated. The delivery of justice needs continually to be reviewed. These, and others, are issues relating to institutional governance which need to be addressed on an ongoing basis.
