Tomorrow – 01 September 2021 – The Supreme Court Of Appeal Will Hear Argument In The Magistrates’ Commission’s Appeal Against The Bloemfontein High Court’s Judgment Concerning The Appointment Procedure Followed For Magistrates. The HSF Will Appear As Amicus To Put Forward Arguments On The Proper Interpretation Of Sections 174(1) And (2) Of The Constitution.

On 12 July 2021, The Constitutional Court Heard Former President, Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma’s Application To Have His Conviction And Sentencing To 15 Months Imprisonment For Contempt Of Court Rescinded. The Helen Suzman Foundation And The State Capture Commission Were Cited As Respondents In The Rescission Application And Opposed It.

Former President, Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, Has Been Sentenced to 15 Months Imprisonment for Contempt of Court

The constitutional court has found that the former president, Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, is guilty of contempt of court, and has sentenced him to 15 months in prison. The Helen Suzman foundation was admitted as amicus curiae in the application and welcomes the court’s findings as a victory for the rule of law in South Africa.
